PETROHRADSKÁ 1.2.3

Petrohradská 1.2.3. is an art center located in a transformed chocolate factory in Prague´s neighborhood of Vršovice. It is the first project undertaken by Petrohradská kolektiv, and consists of three realms of production: the residency program, where host almost 60 artists and creative professionals via our Residency Program for Czech artists, and up to 12 artists per year via our Residency Program for Foreign Artists – A-I-R Petrohradská kolektiv Residency Project 2017, Jedna Dva Tři Gallery, which focuses on presenting the work of young and emerging artists, and our newly opened Petrohradská Room, where our Live Art Program takes place.

Studios in Petrohradská

The Residency Program for Czech artists was established in 2015. Currently, we host 69 residents working in fine arts, film, music or design, among other media. Except for private studios, there is also a graphic studio, recording studio with rehearsal room, a darkroom and ceramic studio in the complex. We consider our residents to be direct participants of the Petrohradská 1.2.3. project, which is why they are chosen based in their portfolios. They are provided with co-funding for their studio space, thus themselves paying a fraction of the commercial rental price, representation and support in relation to our international partners, and the possibility of presenting their work here in the gallery or multifunctional hall.

Live Art Program

Albeit we did organize concerts, workshops or theater performances in the two years since launching Petrohradská kolektiv, these events generally had the nature of an off-program to our main exhibition and residency program, or were held a part of festivals, often outside the premises of Petrohradská 1.2.3. However, with the newly opened Petrohradská Room, a multifunctional hall of over 150m2, we were able to establish our Live Art Program as an integral part of our production, alongside the Residency Programs for Czech and foreign artists and Jedna Dva Tři Galllery. We primarily focus on presenting contemporary Czech and Slovak experimental electronic and noise music and performance art with emphasis on working with space, on the verge of site-specific performance art.
