The main theme resonating throughout Klone´s work reflects human nature – the “natural” vs. the “built in”. Memory, language and identity play important roles in his research, which he then uses as platforms to reference symbols and stories of generations past. However, as an immigrant, Klone is intrigued by what he calls “the migrant gene”. He explains: “Considering that humanity became what it is because of constant migration, we are highly adaptable to almost every environment.” It is this dichotomy of the human condition – the engraved vs. the newly acquired, that Klone would like to examine during his residency at Petrohradská kolektiv. He plans to create a visual documentation of drawing and installations that would reflect upon his interactions with the local community.
